The Glasson Gold Mine is about 5 kilometres south-west of the Callion mine, and is a shallow pit that mined the lateritic ore containing gold.

The country rocks are amphibolite and plagioclase rich metabasalts. The weathered sections are replaced by smectite, opaline silica and in the upper levels of the profile kaolinite, opaline silica and goethite.

Fresh mineralisation is quartz veins with a shear zone, containing additional amphibolite, chlorite, mica and small amounts of sulphides. Gold is found free in quartz, and in sulphides.

Overlying the weathered zone, the sulphides are replaced by a mixture of goethite and rutile. Amphibolite and chlorite here is gradually replaced by smectite and kaolinite, and in the upper levels kaolinite and goethite. Mica has been altered to hydromica. Some halite is also found precipitated from groundwater permeating the shear zone.

The deposit is lenticular, 300 metres long by 70 metres wide and 3 metres thick. Estimated resource prior to mining was 103 000 tonnes at 1.9 g/t. The lateritic deposit covers an extensive quartz vein system measuring over 1000 metres long by 3 metres wide, orientated north, dipping 45 to 60 degrees east, and oxidised down to 70 metres.

Economic mineralisation is confined to an area 300 metres long and down to a depth of 100 metres. Ore reserves in the quartz system is estimated at 104 000 tonnes of ore at 7.9 g/t.
