Production of 600 metric tonnes/day; closed in 2014 due to a decline in metal prices. Currently, the environmental pollution in the area is being cleaned up.
The San Genaro mine is located in the Santa Ana district, Castrovirreyna province, Huancavelica region, Peru. It is an epithermal silver mine with hydrothermal veins dating to the Lower Tertiary. It presents argillaceous and propylitic alteration, with lithologically controlled mineralisation by kaolinisation. The mineralogy includes silver sulphosalts, galena, and sphalerite.
