Quartz vein-type silver-rich deposit. Main ore mineral is argentiferous galena.
The Longmendian deposit is to be developed into a large Ag-dominated polymetallic deposit. Numerous Ag-bearing quartz veins or altered tectonite zones occur in the Taihua Supergroup or Xiong’er Group. The majority of these ore-bearing lodes are controlled by NE- or NNE-trending fractures that dip to NW at angles of 20–80◦. The largest Ag lode extends along strike for 2560 m, with thickness ranging approximately from 0.5 to 1.0 m; but most lodes are 360–1700 m long, with thickness of 0.4–8.0 m. These Ag lodes show common symmetrical alteration zones that are characterized by silicification proximal to the ore, followed by a zone of sericitization–silicification grading to a distal zone of chloritization–sericitization.
The Mo mineralization at Longmendian is limited to the Taihua Supergroup. Molybdenite disseminates in the altered amphibolite or microcline-dominated felsic veins filling the amphibolite. The ore bodies occur as (a) isolated veins or lenses in the Taihua Supergroup, (b) veins or lens crosscut by Ag-bearing veins or lodes, and (c) zones of brecciated or broken Mo-bearing veins enclosed in the Ag-bearing lodes.
