Former lead and copper mine, worked from 1865 till 1876 up to 80 m depth. The ore was rich but sparse and only 700 tons were extracted. Indeed, the mineralization is disseminated in an enclave of devonian andesito-basaltic tuffs, siltstones and limestones (like Chizeuil to the north) highly metamorphosed by granitic intrusions around. The mine had operated a small vein (filled by clay, calcite and chalcedony) that contained the highest concentration of ore. Lead was found mainly in the eastern side of the vein and copper rather in the western side. Due to intense oxidation, only few sulphides remain and the ore is mainly composed of secondary minerals and some native elements.
During the operation, this mine was known for its nice cerussites and cuprites that are in few old collections today...
