An eclogite-type rutile deposit, which is worked from a quarry in a hill side. Inside the quarry, a thick layer of topaz-bearing kyanite quartzite and coesite-bearing eclogite lenses enclosed within quartzofeldspathic gneiss crop out. The rocks form part of the kyanite-topaz zone of high-pressure metamorphic rocks that borders the Sulu ultrahigh-pressure metamorphic terrane to the south.
