Vote for your favorite mineral in #MinCup26! - Quartz vs. Asagiite
It's a classic vs a newbie as the most common named mineral in the crust Quartz is up against an exceedingly-rare sea foam-green mineral discovered just a few years ago Asagiite.

Hydrothermally reformed submarine volcanic-sedimentary metamorphic massive sulphide lead-zinc deposit, hosted in Proterozoic greenschists.

Covers an area of about 4.13 km2. The main lithostratigraphic units of the deposit are the quartz-mica schist and greenschist (Pt3dy1 ges) of the Neoproterozoic Dongyan Formation and the leptynite (Pt3dl2 gnt) of the Neoproterozoic Daling Formation. The Pb-Zn orebodies are hosted by the upper greenschist unit of the Neoproterozoic Dongyan Formation, which mainly consists of plagioclase-amphibole schist, actinolite schist, quartz-mica schist, and diopside tremolite schist.
At the end of 2007, the Shanhou deposit had a proven and probable reserve of 2.56 Mt ore grading at 6.8 % Pb + Zn. Along with a series of the E-W-trending faults, three mineralized zones have been identified: i.e., I, II, and III ore belts. Ore belt I consists of 12 orebodies and represents the main ore zones at Shanhou. The mineralization characteristics are best exemplified by the orebodies I1, I5, I7, and I10, as they account for > 71 % resources of the deposit. The I7 orebody, the largest one at Shanhou, is characterized by bedded or bed-like ores hosted by diopside tremolite schist. It is approximately 554 m long, with a strike of 70° to 80° and a dip of 50° to 70°. This orebody varies in thickness from 0.33 m to 5.66 m with an average of 2.59 m and extends down-dip from the 725.5 m-level to the 509.5-m level. The I7 orebody has a Pb grade of 2.99 %, a Zn grade of 3.36 %, and a Ag grade of 51.6 g/t. The I5 orebody dips to 50°-80° at 55°-80° and ranges in thickness from 0.55 to 4.13 m (average 2.43 m), with a strike length of approximately 556 m and with pinch and swell domains and splays. It extends from 717 m to 498 m in elevation, with an average grade of 3.91 % Pb and 4.96 % Zn, and 43.89 g/t Ag.
