The Caomen K-feldspar granite porphyry stock extends NE–SW over an area of about 12 km2, controlled by NE- and NW-trending faults. Seven ore bodies occurring as veins in NW-trending faults have been exploited from five mineralized belts in the Huaixi district. Stage 1 is characterized by disseminated auriferous pyrite, with native gold present in minor amounts as stringers in fractures of pyrite. Stage 2 is characterized by polymetallic sulphide-quartz veins containing pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena and sphalerite as the dominant sulphide minerals. Fluid inclusions in sphalerite have an average Th of 250 ± 21°C (n = 17). Stage 3 is featured by scarce sulphide crystals with minor quartz in carbonate gangue.
