Köppen climate type:
Vein-type uranium deposits in the Longhuashan batholith, which represents the southeastern part of the Zhuguang granite massif in the Nanling granite belt. Most of the deposits are granite-hosted (intragranitic deposits), but some are hosted in adjacent red-bed basins. Apart from the low-grade "red ores" (red microcrystalline quartz with minor pitchblende, hematite and pyrite), which account for the bulk of proven resources in the Changjiang and Chengkou ore fields, the Baishun ore field, which is the most important uranium ore field in the Zhuguang complex, also comprises a number of deposits carrying a higher grade "black ore". This ore consists of grey-black microcrystalline quartz, purplish black fluorite and pyrite with elevated pitchblende concentrations, and typically grades at 0.3-0.5% U.
The ore field straddles the border between Nanxiong and Shixing counties.
