Déva Mine
Porphyry copper-gold deposit.
The Deva porphyry system is the only one in the South Apuseni Mountains hosted by the metamorphic basement and is presently exhausted. However, the supergene-enrichment sulfide zone of the Deva ore deposit consisted of massive bornite with high-grade gold across approximately 80 m.
The deposit consists of a cylindrical, 0.5-km-diameter breccia hosted in a subvolcanic stock that is mineralized over more than 1 km vertically, most of which is mined to date. The mineralisation is associated with the latest hornblende-biotite andesite and consists of bornite-calcopyrite-magnetite stringers and impregnations, producing ore grades as high as 2 wt-% Cu (Ivascanu et al., 2023).
The tailings pond is at 45.8997, 22.8564.
