Thermally metamorphosed marble, skarn, hornfels and altered basalt in the aureole around a granodiorite intrusion.

(Note that the previous "sadanagaite" reported from here has been renamed/redefined as potassic-ferro-sadanagaite to harmonize the sadanagaite group nomenclature with the other amphiboles. The amphibole naming convention here is in accordance with the Hawthorne et al. (2012) amphibole nomenclature.)

Description: There are three kinds of calcic amphibole in the pyroxene hornfels facies zone of this area. The first is sadanagaite and subsilicic ferroan pargasite which occur in reaction zones around dark fragments in crystalline limestone. The sadanagaite and subsilicic ferroan pargasite forms prismatic crystals less than 1.3 mm in length. Composition: (K0.836Na0.206)1.042(Ca1.986Na0.014)2(Mg1.418Mn2+0.032Fe2+2.168Fe3+0.228Ti0.369Al0.738)4.953(Si5.360Al2.640)8O22(OH)2 - OH content assumed, no analysis for F and O in the W position
