Hončova hůrka u Příbora
Hončova hůrka belongs to the belt of magmatic rocks (Teschenite Association Rocks) of Early Cretaceous age which stretches from Valašské Meziříčí through Příbor and Frýdek-Místek to Český Těšín and later to Poland.
The Hončova hůrka Hill was first mentioned by Zepharovich (1859), but the quarry was notably active between 1966 and 1967. Dolníček et al. (2010) described the local rocks as effusive ones classified as peridotite picrite, with frequent porphyric and/or amygdaloid textures.
Considering the heulandite-clinoptilolite issue: from 223 EDS microanalyses of 11 samples two hundred spots were classified as clinoptilolites (with a continuous transition from more common barium-rich clinoptilolite-Ca to the Ba-dominant member (4 spot analyses)). Twenty-three analyses correspond to the heulandite subgroup, with a continuous transition from barium-rich heulandite-Ca to the Ba-dominant member (5 spot analyses). All these within individual crystal aggregates, as they are zoned. For the collectors, label clinoptilolite-heulandite series should be enough, leaving the extraframework cations to properly analysed samples only. The same goes for the Mindat pictures in the gallery. BTW - for the relevant analysis, only zeolites not etched from the calcite must be considered!
