Smith (1977) locates and describes 14 outcrops, trenches, adits, quarries, and a drill hole in Zn-Pb mineralization in the Silurian Tuscarora Formation. The bulk of the sphalerite-galena-pyrite-quartz mineralization occurs in brittle fractures, some as crystals in open vugs. (Geologically, the district is similar to the mineralization in the Schwangunk Formation at Wurtzville-Ellenville, NY.)

The Smith (1977)reference provides coordinates and mineral lists for each of the occurrences. The coordinates listed below are for Occurrence 11 located on Silver Mine Knob. The Smith et al. (1971) reference includes a description of a the NW-trending zone of mineralization and structures discovered much later on remote imagery.
