A rolled earth fill dam with stone slope protection created by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers between 1949 and 1952. Most of the subsequent lake is in Mansfield, Tolland Co., but the dam itself is in Windham. Coordinates are for the approximate mid-point of the 4.8-km-long dam. Uncertain where the stone came from, but Hope Valley Alaskite Gneiss is exposed in the state park and matches specimens found on the dam. Beryl (variety aquamarine)/fluorite/quartz occur in a 3-4 cm vein cross-cutting the gneiss.
