Zeolites were first found in the quarry in the spring of 1994. The quarry is at the intersection of 200/237 roads on Weyerhaeuser Mount Saint Helens tree farm. It is currently closed to motorized access. The quarry was established to provide material for logging roads. The quarry exposes three volcanic flows. Two are a black vesicular Eocene basalt of low potassium tholeiitic composition similar to mid-ocean ridge basalt. The lowest flow is a light green volcanic ash with areas of irregular cavities and veinlets.
