The Diaoyutai pyrite deposit is located in the northeast of the complex, with a sulfur reserve of 290 million tonnes and an average sulfur grade of 5.5 %. The deposit mainly consists of layered and lenticular disseminated pyrite mineralization. The host rock of the deposit is volcaniclastic rock of the Qingshan Group, including andesitic tuff and andesitic flow breccia. The trend of this ore deposit is generally consistent with the trend of the Qingshan Group strata, trending southeast with a dip of 20°. It has a length of approximately 1 km, a width of 800 m, and an average thickness of 100 m.
The orebodies of the deposit are primarily hosted within the Qingshan Group, with a minority occurring within hornblende andesite porphyry and quartz diorite porphyry. Mesozoic magmatic rocks are well developed in the deposit, mainly consisting of pyroxene diorite, andesitic volcanic lava, hornblende andesite porphyry and quartz diorite porphyry. The Diaoyutai pyrite deposit, containing 41.32 Mt of S reserves averaging 5.24 % S, is the large-scale and low-grade pyrite deposit in the ore district, mainly characterized by veinlet-disseminated mineralization. The Pyrite orebodies typically occur as veins or stockworks within the host rocks, whereas mineralization far away from fault zones transforms into scattered disseminated mineralization.
