Granitic gneiss located of the land of the Brekke farm, SW of Brevik, Telemark, Norway. Berzelius introduced the name esmarkite (in honor of the priest and mineralogist Hans Morten Thrane Esmark (1801-1882)) for a greenish colored mineral rimmed by mica found at this locality (Erdmann 1840, see more under Esmarkite (of Berzelius)). It was later showed not to be a new mineral, but a weathered cordierite. This locality was also mentioned by Weibye (1848) as a locality for anthophyllite and the now descredited "bamlite".
