State road 620 2.5 miles NE of town. 2 miles NW of intersection of State Roads 620 and 614.

A basalt sill between limestone and dolostone strata. Its maximum width, observed in a roadcut, is 6 m, but it reduces to about 3 m at the northeastern end.

The site is 4.26 km (straight line) east, northeast of Doe Hill, Highland County, Virginia, or 3.38 km northwest of the intersection of State Road 620 with State Road 614. The coordinates give here are approximate, but should be within a few hundred meters.
