Like Pednandrea Mine, Wheal Sparnon was working a number of ENE-trending lodes under Redruth town and is now completely built over. The western boundary of the sett is marked by the stream that flows alongside Falmouth road. The lodes are intersected by three NW-trending cross-courses, the most westerly of which is known as cobalt lode. Most of the shafts are sunk on Sparnon lode; the cobalt lode was worked from drives on the latter. The adit level follows the course of Sparnon lode through the whole of the sett, below and roughly parallel to Sparnon Hill and Park roads, and continues further east to Wheal Grambler.
