On This Day (2nd Sep 1851): William Nichol dies
On this day in 1851, Scottish professor of Natural Philosophy William Nichol died. In 1815 he made the first thin sections of rocks and in 1828 invented the Nicol prism for obtaining plane-polarized light in a petrographic microscope.Recent Articles
