First Tl-dominant member of the group. Approximately a more Mn(IV)-rich TlCu analogue of cryptomelane and strontiomelane. First Tl- and Mn-dominant oxide mineral to date.

Probably resulted from Tl-for-K replacement, in the course of "weathering of a sulfide mineral assemblage under semi-arid to arid climate". Tl and others were likely released due to action of "Cl-, Br-, and I-bearing brines and pore waters".
Other associated minerals are Cu sulfates, Pb arsenates, and Bi oxy-chlorides.
