Named by C. Ma, C. Lin, L. Luca Bindi, and P.J. Steinhardt in 2017 in honor of Valery Kryachko, Russian prospector who discovered the original samples of the Khatyrka meteorite in 1979.
Chemically similar to hollisterite and somewhat to icosahedrite. Known synthetic analogue.
