Named for the type locality. Originally named stetindite, but renamed stetindite-(Ce) in 2016, according to the Levinson rule.
Type Locality:
Ce4+ analog of zircon.
One of the very rare representatives of minerals with essential tetravalent cerium; others currently (2026) known are cerianite-(Ce), dyrnaesite-(La), armellinoite-(Ce) and anningite-(Ce).
One of the most simple Ce-dominant silicates (compare percleveite-(Ce) and 'UM1979-22-SiO:CeLaNd').

Diverging aggregates of acicular crystals up to 1.5 mm in length and 0.05 mm in thickness.
Place of Conservation of Type Material:
Mineralogical Museum, University of Hamburg, Germany (NO-001/08).
Geological Setting of Type Material:
In cavities in elongated to sheet formed masses of yttrian fluorite wich occurs along a narrow zone in a granite pegmatite.
