South Binner Downs Mine

Worked from 1819 to 1838, producing 51,000 tons of copper. The widespread dumps and shafts cover the fields east of the B3302 road south of Leedstown.
Ref.: B. Atkinson: Mining Sites in Cornwall, Vol. 2, Dyllansow Truran (1994)

The site is heavily overgrown and in the eastern part is marshy around an area that appears to be largely tailings slimes. There are numerous tips and mounds of spoil in the western part easily accessed off the road. The spoil is mostly soft grey mudstone and metal ores are abundant. Oct 2025.
