A former lode Au-Cr occurrence/mine group located in the NW¼ sec. 25 & in sec. 26, T16N, R8E, MDM, ¾ mile NE of Grass Valley. Property comprises 200 acres. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in serpentinite and diabase. The ore body is lenticular in form, strikes E and dips 30-34N at a thickness of 1.52 meters. There are 5 veins, the Golden Gate vein, Dana-Mobile Treasury vein, Alpha vein, Blight and Wills veins. The veins average 18 inches (45 cm) thick. Diabase dikes occur in serpentine. Altered serpentine contains mariposite. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 1,645.92 meters and an overall depth of 151.79 meters and are comprised of a 1,020 foot incline, 3,315 feet of drifts, 485 feet of crosscuts, 420 feet of raises.
Analytical data results: The pyrite assayed at $150 (period values) Au/ton.
Production data are found in: Logan, Clarence August (1941).
production information: Concentrate less than 1% of ore and averaged $45 to $50 (period values) Au/ton. A small carload of chrome ore was mined.
