A former lode Au-Pb-Ag occurrence/mine located in the NW¼ sec. 2 & in the NE¼ sec. 3, T15N, R8E, MDM, about 3 km (1.8 miles) S of Grass Valley proper. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. This mine is a consolidation of the Omaha, Lone Jack, Illinois, Homeward Bound and Menlo (Wisconsin).

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granodiorite and diabase. The ore body is massive, ribbon & sheared and strikes N and dips W. There are 3 veins at 1 foot thick, carrying 3 to 4% sulfides. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).

Local geologic structures include to the NW, vein in a fracture zone.

Workings include underground openings with a length of 10,363.2 meters and an overall depth of 487.68 meters and comprised of shafts, extensive drifting and stopes.

Production data are found in: MacBoyle, Errol (1919).

Production during the period 1857 to 1867 from the Lone Jack, 1879 to 1906 from the Omaha, 1890 to 1899 from the Omaha Consolidated , 1892 to 1900 from the Menlo. 1857 to 1917 total production to date of reference. Consolidation average $350 to $460 (period values). Average value of ore from stopes on the upper levels was $20 to $30 (period values per ton.
