Horní Halže (German: Oberhals) is a small village, part of the village Měděnec in the district Chomutov. It stands in the Ore Mountains at an altitude of about 880 meters, about 2.5 kilometers west of Měděnec. The development is located along the road II / 223. The origin of the village in the fifteenth century is associated with the mining and processing of iron ore and copper. After a break caused by the Thirty Years' War, mining continued to a small extent until the nineteenth century. After the mines closed, work in the forest became an alternative source of livelihood. In the twentieth century, the village lost almost all its inhabitants and became a recreation center.

Horní Halže is also the name of a cadastral area with an area of ​​3.44 km². Dolní Halže also lies in the cadastral area of ​​Horní Halže.
