Cement Creek is a deeply incised waterway that occupies a narrow valley in some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in all Colorado. It drains much of the central and southern portions of the Silverton caldera and empties into the Animas River near the east end of Silverton. Being a region of intense hydrothermal activity old mine adits dot the sides of the valley. The forests usually are enough so that this doesn't significantly detract from the general view especially for those who are interested in the rocks as well as the scenery.
All but the southern end of the Cement Creek valley are in the Eureka District.
Cement creek empties into the Animas River near the east end of Silverton. From there it trends northward along a somewhat arcuate path to Gladstone near the center of the Silverton caldera, a little southeast of the Red Mountains. Although the southern end is in the Animas District the majority of its extent, that with most of the mines, is in the Eureka District.
