One of the mining district's largest Ba-Cu-Zn-Pb-Ag hydrothermal veins in late-Hercynian monzogranite (SE of Sierra Morena range).
It strikes northeast–southwest for about 5 km and has an average thickness of 2–3 m.
The El Cobre vein is characterised by three stages of mineralization, which were separated by major brecciation events.
Note: The name of the vein, which means 'the copper' is misleading as the vein was worked entirely for lead until operations ceased in the early 1990s.
Note on the mineral list: Lillo (2002) also mentions undefined 'Ag sulphosalts'.
