Arsenic and copper mine (arsenopyrite was the main ore mineral), started in 1949 and closed in 1974. Mesothermal sulphide veins hosted in early Cretaceous altered andesite and pyroclastics. During the uranium rush in the 1950s, the Matsuiwa mine's ores were also extensively researched because of their small uranium content, maximum 1.4% U3O8, although the average was considerably less.
