Spartan Mining Company Mine


An Ag-As-Au-Cu + U trace occurrence/mine located in the NE¼SE¼SE¼ sec. 33, T20N, R15W, and in sec. 12, T19N, R15W (conflicting location), G&SRM, 2.4 km (1.5 miles) SSE of Pine Lake (town), on Bureau of Land Management administered land. Discovered 1953 by Mr. Dick Hart. Owned by Silvia Vukoye, California (<1953-1962). Operated by Dick Hart, Adrion Skinner, and Scott Ellis (Sevier Minerals) (1953-). Operated by D. Hart and White, Arizona (1961). The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 500 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in Neoproterozoic schist, gneiss, and granite. The ore body strikes N15W and dips 42-45E at a width of 1.22 meters (4 feet). Mineralization includes secondary copper minerals. Alteration includes chloritization, sericitization and kaolinization. Local rocks include Middle Proterozoic granitic rocks and/or Early Tertiary to Late Cretaceous granitic rocks.

Workings include unspecified underground openings with a length of 304.8 meters.
