Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology (NBMG) sample site No. 4281
A former Ag-F-W occurrence/mine located in sec. 30, T10N, R24E, MDM, 7.3 km (4.5 miles) SSE of Wellington, on National Forest land. Owned by Saga Exploration Company, Reno, Nevada.
A Ag deposit hosted in limestone. The mine is best known because of 2 large fluorite-bearing jasperoid masses that crop out on the slope above the mine about 1,200 feet SW and 2,200 feet to the S. The jasperoid masses cap the lower units. Associated rocks include Late Jurassic Diorite. Local rocks include shale, sandstone, volcanogenic clastic rocks, andesite, rhyolite, and locally thick carbonate units.
Local geologic features include local faulting.
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a shaft and adit with extensive road building and bulldozing above and to the SW of the mine. Several old buildings still stand at the mine.
Production was a small amount of silver.
Formerly, it was located in Douglas County. After the county lines were corrected it is now located in Lyon County. See NBMG OPEN-FILE REPORT 90-1, p.231:
"All of this district was formerly in Douglas County, but adjustments to the county line left only the mines in the Pine Nut Range in Douglas County. The county line passes along the east flanks of Taylor Hill and some of the prospects on the lower parts of the hill, east of the line, are in Lyon County. To the south, the county line passes west of the Boulder Hill mine area and those mines too are in Lyon County."

Note: Fluorite specimens from Boulder Hill have been damaged, with the luster being affected when soaked in hydrochloric acid (HCL). It's advised to test chip samples in ''cleaning'' products before proceeding further with high-quality mineral specimens.
