Willimantic is a borough (formerly a city) with an incorporated boundary completely within the town of Windham's boundary.

Specimens of coarse-grained, brown, prismatic sillimanite in granular quartz are noted from somewhere in Willimantic - no reference or collection seems to have recorded the specific location. Other similar specimens are found at the type locality in Chester, Conn. and at the Falls of the Yantic in Norwich, Conn. Both of these localities are hosted by the Tatnic Hill Formation, which crops out around, but not within Willimantic.

The U. S. Route 6 Willimantic Bypass highway is not in Willimantic, but passes mostly through Coventry, where most of the rock cuts (in the Tatnic Hill Formation) are located, and within the town of Windham. Specimens from the bypass should be posted on this mindat page:
http://www.mindat.org/loc-212277.html

The sillimanite specimens apparently predate the Route 6 construction.
