Trial mine, in Glen of the Bar, worked in the 1880s for nickeliferous pyrrhotite in an orebody formed by magmatic segregation. According to Wilson & Flett (1921) about 100 tons of ore was raised and left on surface. This ore pile is now in a forestry plantation where it is in an advanced state of oxidation and decay as the unstable iron sulfide is rusting and disintegrating.
