A former underground Cu-Au-Ag-Pb-Zn mine located about 1 mile South of Canon, on the Agua Fria River, near the mouth of Black Canyon Creek at 1,850 feet of altitude. Owned by the Kay Copper Corp. of Phoenix. Discovered 1910. Produced 1910 to 1966. Claims extend into the E½E½SW¼ of sec. 4 and the N½ of sec. 9.
Mineralization is a lens-shaped ore body. The country rock is more or less fissile chloritic schist striking N.20ºE. & dipping 70º WNW. The schist is comprised of a fine-grained quartz mosaic with much foliated chlorite & some rutile. Ore control was stratigraphy. Ore concentration was oxidation at near surface. Alteration is chloritization and sericitization.
Area structures include foliation and some bedding that trend N20E.
Workings include an older incline 600 feet deep with crosscuts on the West side the river & a newer 1,500 foot deep shaft on the East side. 15,045 feet of tunnels & shafts plus 17,906 feet of exploratory diamond drill holes (1925).
