The Elkhorn mining district is located in the Pioneer Mountains northwest of Comet Mountain at the headwaters and on the divide of Wise River and Grasshopper Creek. The major mines are about four miles northeast of Elkhorn Hot Springs. Cu, Ag, Pb (Au). Discovered in 1874.
