A former Ag-Au-Pb-Zn-Cu occurrence/mine located in the SW¼ sec. 25, T9S, R79W, 6th. Principal Meridian, 1.0 km (0.6 mile) SE of Dyer Mountain, in the Iowa Amphitheater at the head of Iowa Gulch, 6 miles S of Leadville, on private land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
NOTE: USGS MRDS database file #10009438 states that this mine is in the Horseshoe District.
Mineralization is replacement and vein deposits (Mineral occurrence model information: Model code: 72; USGS model code: 19a; Deposit model name: polymetallic replacement; Mark3 model number: 47), hosted in the Leadville Dolomite. Local rocks include Laramide intrusive rocks.
Workings include unspecified underground openings (the topo map reflects 1 adit symbol at this point).
Reported production was valued at $3,000,000 (period values) before 1920.
Reserve resource information: About 5,000 tons of proven ore averaging 17 ounces/ton Ag and 3% Pb; potential ore totals 20,000 tons at a similar grade. (Sunshine files, 1980).
