Intrusive rocks include Yanshanian granitoid, comprising biotite-bearing granite, monzogranite, and granodiorite. Exposed acidic formations in this area and intermediate-acid volcanic rocks of the Upper Jurassic Nanyuan Formation (J3n), clastic rocks and sandstones of the Lower Jurassic Lishan Formation (J1l) inland basin, and continental volcanic-sedimentary rocks of the Lower Cretaceous Huangkeng Formation (K1h). Cu and Mo mineralization is mainly developed in the granodiorite. In plan view, the ore bodies exhibit lenticular and vein-like forms, with lengths ranging from 100 to 300 m, widths between 5 and 20 m, and thicknesses varying from 3 to 20 m. The strike direction is predominantly NE, with dip angles between 50° and 60° and a downward extension ranging from 50 to 200 m. Molybdenum ore bodies are mainly concentrated in the shallow part of the deposit, whereas copper ore bodies are present both at depth and near the surface. The ore types in the Jinxi deposit are predominantly quartz − sulfide vein − type and minor disseminated ores. Hydrothermal alteration associated with ore formation is characterized by silicification and beresitization, followed by potassium feldspathization, sericitization, chloritization, and carbonatization.
The Jinxi deposit is classified as a high − to medium − temperature magmatic hydrothermal vein − type copper deposit. The ore reserve of the Jinxi Cu deposit is 1,073 thousand tons, of which 7,753 tons of copper metal with an average grade of 0.72 %.
