Arsen-Gold-Silberbergbau Zuckenhut, Arsenbergbau Zuckenhut/Straßegg
The former arsenic-gold-silver mine Zuckenhut is located at an altitude of between approx. 1000 and 1200 m above sea level in the area between the Zuckenhutgraben north of the Straßegg pass (municipality of Breitenau am Hochlantsch) and the north side of the Pramerkogel (municipality of Gasen). The mining traces extend in a NNW - SSE direction over a length of approx. 1.8 km and can be detected in the area over a width of around 200 and 300 m. Numerous densely lined up collapsed shafts, dumps and mostly collapsed tunnels with their adits are evidence of mining activity for arsenopyrite, galena, pyrite and electrum, which had its historical confirmed beginning in the 15th century.
Belongs to the Straßegg mining area.
