Gavia Pass (2618 m) is a pass in the Southern Reathian Alps connecting the Gavia Valley, Valfurva, Valtellina (Sondrio Province), to the upper Camonica Valley (Brescia Province).
Grey-blue kyanite crystals, up to 80x 8 mm in size, red-brown staurolite crystals, 4-20 mm long and often forming St. Andrew's cross twins, and almandine nodules are found in mica schist to the SE of Lago Bianco, above the path on the right side of the Gavia stream and particularly around the small lake at about 2700 m a.s.l.
Staurolite crystals are also found at the foot of Monte Gavia, above Rifugio Bonetta.
