The Jiaojia gold belt, with a total gold resource of about 1300 tons, is located along the Jiaojia-Xincheng Fault in the middle segment of the Zhaoyuan-Laizhou belt. The Jiaojia-Xincheng Fault is NE-trending and exhibits a S-shaped trend in plane view. It extends for approximately 2100 m along the contact zone between the Linglong and Guojialing granites. The fault zone is 100–750 m wide, with a general strike of 40°, dipping NW at 26–34°, and locally steepening to 47°. At structural bends of the Jiaojia-Xincheng Fault, medium to large-sized gold deposits, such as the Xincheng, Dongji, Qujia, Jiaojia, Qianchen, Sizhuang and Zhaoxian, have formed, making it the primary ore-controlling structure in the mining area. Magmatic rocks in the belt are mainly the Late Jurassic Linglong granite, followed by the Early Cretaceous Guojialing granodiorite, which occurred as branches at the footwall of the Jiaojia-Xincheng Fault.
The gold mineralization can be divided into four stages, progressing from early to late as follows: (I) pyrite-quartz stage, (II) gold-quartz-pyrite stage, (III) gold-quartz-polymetallic sulfide stage, and (IV) quartz-carbonate stage. Among these, stages II and III constitute the main mineralization stages, with their overlapping zones hosting high-grade ores.
