Landgrunnvatn gullskjerp, Brønnøy, Nordland, Norge
A gold occurrence probably discovered in the 1930's by Boliden AB on behalf of A/S Kolsvik Malmfelter during regional mapping. Samples were collected in 1982-83 by BP Norge A.S.
The mineralisation occurs in a hydrothermal quartz vein measuring 220x2 m in biotite gneiss, containing boudinated bodies of marble. The gneiss contains 1-2 m wide granite dykes, not intersecting the quartz vein.
The surface of the quartz vein is covered by rust due to disseminated pyrite crystals in cavities in fractured quartz, and also due to veins containing pyrite/pyrrhotite and locally chalcopyrite.
The gold-containing arsenopyrite mineralisations occur in the lying contact with the gneiss, in the form of 1-2 cm wide and 1-3 m long, massive fracture fillings.
