Geology: Gold mineralization occurs within high-grade vein fillings, blanket-like quartz stockwork bodies, and placer deposits within unconsolidated stream gravels. Data compiled from USBM files and company annual reports.
Structure: N.E. Striking normal faults, dipping NW
Alteration: Potassic alteration of bedded andesite
Commodity: Ore materials: native gold gangue materials: gangue: quartz, adularia, dickite, chlorite, titanium minerals
Deposit: Deposits are stockworks along fractures that trend eastward and dip north in adularized andesite. Zone contains many closely-spaced veinlets of quartz and adularia. Free gold is deposited in drusy cavities in the veinlets.
Deposit type: Epithermal vein, Comstock
Development: Large, low-grade gold deposit, discovered after the silver mines had been developed. It was worked until 1898, when the influx of water became too great
Geology: Geol.com: the deposits are stockworks along fractures that trend eastward and dip northward in adularized beaded andesite. The fracture zone is 1,400 ft long, 200 ft. Wide and was mined to a 300' depth. Zone contains many closely spaced veinlets of quartz and adularia. Free gold is deposited in drusy cavities in the veinlets and also replacing bedded andesite. Silver content so dispersed that very little secondary enrichment occurred
Ores(s): Fractures that trend eastward and dip northward in adularized beaded andesite. Shattered zones along contacts.
