The mine has largely been lost in the marshy ground 1.5kms NW of Marazion.
The first recoded opening was sometime before 1792 under the name Bog mine, which lasted untill 1798 due to the very low price for copper. The next working was from 1833 under the name Wheal Darlington, when two lodes were developed to a depth of 120fathoms (220mts). The silver ores where found in West Darlington, at the 40 fathom level.
