Generally comprises isolated flows, rarely exceeding a few meters in thickness extending over an area over 50km², with necks, dikes and rarely sills. There are a few eruption centres at which flow sequences have been built up (Wass 1980; O'Reilly 1989).

The Southern Highlands Volcanic Field includes the Mittagong Area Syenites, Camden County, New South Wales, Australia.
