Bømlo gullgruver, Lykling, Bømlo, Vestland, Norge
Several mines and prospects along the western shore of the island Bømlo. Gold was mined periodically from 1882 to 1910. Collecting here is not allowed without permission. Occasionally amateur collectors try to find gold. Bømlo Gold Mining Company D/A has the rights for these localities, but allow collectors to try their luck a couple of days each sommer. Otherwise it is not allowed to collect gold! Those who are interested, are adviced to follow "Kystguiden" on Facebook.
The gold deposits are mesothermal gold-bearing quartz veins in shear zones in the Lykling ophiolite complex.
