Trondhjemite

Name:
Its name, given by Goldschmidt in 1916, is derived from Trondhjem, Norway.
A light-colored plutonic rock composed primarily of sodic plagioclase (esp. oligoclase), quartz, sparse biotite, and little or no alkali feldspar.
Also spelled: trondjemite; trondheimite.

A leucotonalite whose plagioclase is oligoclase or andesine, quartz is at least 20% of the leucocratic minerals, and the alkali feldspar must comprise no more than 10% of the total feldspars. Color index must be 10 or less.

Depending on the mafic content the trondhjemite field ranges from:
18-60% quartz
36-80% plagioclase (oligoclase)
up to 10% K feldspar or albite (usually the latter)
<10 % dark minerals (amphiboles, pyroxenes, biotite)
