A Cu-Au mining district located in T1N R16W & T1S, R18W, in the northern Kofa Mts (S.H. Mountains).
Mineralization in the district is varied: (1) generally weak and spotty, oxidized copper mineralization in small, irregular veins and seams along shear or fault zones in andesite porphyry or closely associated granitic intrusive, along a major northwest-striking structural zone; (2) Spotty, finely divided, free gold in fractures and breccia with gouge, calcite, and iron and manganese oxides, in andesitic volcanics; and, (3) Minor placer gold in washes close to gold deposits.
Workings are relatively shallow shafts, tunnels, trenches and pits, mostly worked in early 1900's. Some 65 tons of 1.4% Cu with minor silver and 100 tons of .80 oz. Au/T and 1.o oz. Ag/T reported as produced but some gold probably sold to ore buyers from numerous prospects and placer operations.
