This ancient mine produced 670 tons of copper, 1 ton of ochre and some tin during its active working period from 1851 to 1870. The main workings were located at Carrack Gladden Point, where some fairly caverneous levels and tunnels can be seen opening out on the beach. There are portals of several other levels at the top of the cliff, and another adit entrance is located further south of Hawk's Point.
