Enstatite achondrite (aubrite).
This meteorite fell 2 December 1852 about six miles south of Basti at about 10:10 AM. At nearby Gorakhpur the sound was reported to approach in a direction from NNW. At Basti the sound was reported to come from zenith and proceed somewhat easterly.
One fragment, 1267g in weight, is in the collection at the Natural History Museum, London, England (32100). From that fragment, oldhamite and osbornite were described.
A 75g slice is housed at the Smithsonian, USNM 5622 and may be on display.
Heidite was also first described from this meteorite, but the specimen that it was found in is not described.
