A group of 15 Cu-U-Pb claims and former surface and underground U mine located in the SE¼ sec. 31, T5N, R14E, about 3 miles SSW of Asbestos Point (Asbestos Peak), and about 5 miles NNE of the east end of Roosevelt Lake, on the west side of Warm Spring Canyon, a few hundred feet from Globe-Young Road, about 26 miles north of Globe, on National Forest land. Discovered by Carl Larsen (Feb 1950); owned by Carl & Ethel Larsen.
Mineralization is a tabular ore body hosted in Dripping Springs Quartzite-Upper Member. The ore zone strikes N20E and dips horizontally. Radioactivity: 3.0 mr/hr or greater. An associated rock unit is diabase.
Diabase is widespread in the area. The main mass of diabase forms a thick sill in the upper member of the Dripping Spring NW of the Red Bluff Mine. E & NE of the mine it is intruded the Mescal limestone and terminates against eastward-dipping diabase-filled faults.
Orebodies are in the upper member of the Dripping Spring quartzite on both sides of the north-trending diabase dike. The dike occupies a reverse fault that dips steeply west. The fault displacement is about 250 feet. Host rocks are dark gray, laminated siltstones and very fine-grained quartzite strata in the middle part of the upper member.
Workings include 5 adits, a narrow open cut and several prospect pits. Total workings are about 1,400 feet in length.
